The UIC Pavilion

The UIC Pavilion, which was constructed in the fall of 1982 for $10 million, is home to the Flames' men's and women's basketball teams as well as the volleyball teams.

Located on the UIC campus, the Pavilion is accessible from the Eisenhower, Kennedy, and Dan Ryan expressways. Chicago Transit Authority buses and rapid transit trains also stop right at the Pavilion. Regional Transit Authority commuter train stations (Union and Northwestern) are a short distance away.

Sporting events that have been at the Pavilion include Volvo Grand Prix and Ameritech Cup tennis; USA Women's Basketball vs. the Russian Olympic Team; U.S. Precision Figure Skating Championships; USA Basketball All Stars vs. the Yugoslavian Olympic Team; Chicago Power Soccer; Labatt's Hockey Heroes vs. UIC featuring the return of National Hockey League Hall of Famers Bobby Hull and Stan Mikita; men's and women's gymnastics competitions; and the world-renowned Harlem Globetrotters.

Besides hosting sporting events, the UIC Pavilion has had many acts on its stage. The Grateful Dead, U2, Van Halen, REM, R. Kelly, LL Cool J, Green Day, Nine Inch Nails and Madonna are just a few of the acts that have entertained thousands of fans. In the spring of 2000, the Pavilion also welcomed the Shrine Circus to the UIC campus.

The Pavilion features a computerized message center that controls message board units outside the building and at both sides of the inside arena. The Pavilion seats 8,000 for basketball and volleyball and 10,300 for concerts.
