With a little over a week left for fans to cast their ballots, numerous online groups and forums are urging fans to vote for Sean Taylor in this year's NFL Pro Bowl game in Honolulu, Hawaii on Sunday, February 10th.

Taylor, a star free safety for the Washington Redskins, was shot in his Miami home Monday during what appeared to be an attempted burglary. The 24-year-old sustained a serious gunshot wound to his femoral artery in his leg that resulted in a loss of blood and unconsciousness. Taylor did not wake up and was pronounced dead 24 hours later.

Five suspects, including one minor, were arrested Friday in connection with the murder of Taylor. The suspects plan to face murder and burglary charges, according to Miami-Dade police.

Additional arrests are possible.

Prior to his death, Taylor was leading the NFL in interceptions before injuring his knee and missing weeks eleven and twelve for the Redskins.   Regardless of his death, Taylor was atop many voters' ballots for the NFC free safety position, currently being held by Brian Dawkins of the Eagles with 100,259 votes.

Countless players have been voted to the Pro Bowl who did not play in all 16 regular season games, including the Eagles Jeremiah Trotter.

Sean Taylor fans are arguing that Taylor not only deserved the spot with regards to his on the field performance, but it would also be a nice gesture to the Redskins organization and Taylor’s family to give one of the NFL’s brightest young stars one last accolade.

Those interested in voting for Taylor, or other deserving players for this years Pro Bowl, can visit NFL.com and click on the “Pro Bowl” link under the news section. Voting ends Tuesday, December 11th and voters are allowed to vote more than once.

Over 1.2 million ballots have already been cast and Taylor needs more and more votes to gain ground on Dawkins and be selected as a 2008 pro bowler.

According to the Redskins website, a special Sean Taylor tribute will be held at FedEx Field prior to their game against the Bills Sunday.  The game starts at 1 pm Eastern time but fans are urged to be in their seats by noon as to not miss the tribute.
