SmackDown! started up with a video package, highlighting the events of the past two weeks regarding Rey Mysterio taking on Mark Henry, and then the Great Khali (and losing both matches).  This week, Mysterio will have to face another opponent selected by John “Bradshaw” Layfield, but his opponent remains a mystery.

John “Bradshaw” Layfield came out on the entrance ramp in his limo.  He didn’t leave his limo, but just stood up through the sunroof.  He told the audience that he wants to acknowledge the heart of our champion, Rey Mysterio.  He told the audience that Eddie Guerrero at that heart too, but passion doesn’t pay the bills.  The crowd started chanting for Mysterio, but JBL assured them that he will take Mysterio’s championship at Judgment Day this Sunday.  He told Mysterio that tonight, he will play with fire, and if you play with fire, you might get burned and tonight will be a night that he will never forget.

MNM made their way down to the ring for the first match of the night.  We saw some footage of last week when Brian Kendrick, Paul London, and Jillian Hall embarrassed the champions by tearing off their pants.  Jillian came down to the ring, followed by Kendrick and London.  Jillian and Melina started brawling immediately, but their respective teams pulled them apart.

Rey Mysterio was in the ring as John “Bradshaw” Layfield came down to the announcer’s table.  He stepped on top of the table with a microphone and told Mysterio that this Sunday is Judgment Day, and that his Judgment Day is when he will take that championship off of Mysterio’s undeserving body.  He ordered Mysterio to take a microphone, which he did.  He wanted to ask Mysterio a question: does he even know he is or what year it is?  He told Mysterio that they are in North Mexico and it is the year 2006.  He asked him what day it is, and Mysterio told him that it was May 19th.  JBL started laughing as RAW’s Kane made his way down to the ring!
