CHICAGO -- The Philadelphia Phillies added Kyle Lohse for the stretch run, obtaining the right-hander from the Cincinnati Reds on Monday for lefty Matt Maloney.
The 28-year-old Lohse is 6-12 with a 4.58 ERA in 21 starts this season, going 4-3 with a 2.57 ERA at home but 2-9 with a 6.42 ERA in the road.
Lohse is 60-74 with a 4.83 ERA in eight seasons with Minnesota and Cincinnati, which acquired him from the Twins at the July 31 trade deadline last year. He is making $4.2 million his year and is eligible for free agency after the World Series.
Maloney, who is 23, was 9-7 with a 3.94 ERA in 21 starts at Double-A Reading, striking out 115 in 125 2-3 innings. He was the South Atlantic League pitcher of the year in 2006, going 16-9 with a 2.03 ERA for Lakewood. He will report to Double-A Chattanooga.
