MEMPHIS, Tenn. - Philadelphia 76ers guard Allen Iverson was carried off the court just before halftime of Sunday's game with a sprained right ankle, and a team official said he would not return.

Iverson, who had 18 points at the time, was favoring his right leg as he limped to the bench after taking a shot from the right baseline as the shot clock expired.

Iverson drove to the right and appeared to roll the ankle before he took the shot. Then he landed on some people sitting along the baseline after falling out of bounds. Iverson was not putting any weight on the leg as he made it to the Philadelphia bench. As the Sixers called timeout, Iverson was carried to the dressing room.

Iverson is second in the NBA with 33.5 points per game.
