"Jets are Super Bowl bound"

January 15, 2005. Steelers. Jets. Pittsburgh. New York. AFC Divisional Game. Doug BLEEPIN' Brien. 47-Yrd FG with 1:58 remaining, and then a 43-Yrd FG at the end of regulation. The first miss, the 47 yarder, hits the corner...the FREAKIN' corner of the goalpost. I, along with the millions of Jet fan, though the game was over. Big Ben Roethlisberger would throw a couple of passes to Hines Ward. Run the ball with Jerome Bettis, beat up the Jets with 101 yards and a TD on 27 carries, and Duce Staley. But there was hope, as Big Ben, on the very next play, throws an interception to David Barrett. That set up a 43 yarder for Doug Brien, after running the ball for a few plays. With the time dwindling down Mr. Brien missed the field goal. Oh no, it didn't hit the goal post. It BARELY hit the net behind the field goal. It was wide...WIDE right.

But now...it's a new season for the J E T S Jets Jets Jets. Jets go into the season with the 4th highest schedule in terms of strength, with a .535 opponent winning percentage. Jets go in, thinking about playoffs. But it seems like every 2 years, they get raided. In 2003 they lost Laveranues Coles, John Hall and Chad Morton to the Redskins. This year they lost Jason Ferguson to Dallas, LaMont Jordan to Oakland, Doug Brien to Chicago, Anthony Becht to T.B., Santana Moss to Wash., Kareem McKenzie to NYG, and Sam Cowart to Minn.

Very tough losses this year. Losing Fergie to Dallas really hurts. Trading Moss was good because Coles is a more dominating than Moss. Becht was always a reliable TE for the Jets. Sam Cowart would've been a big loss...say it was 2 or 3 years ago. But we got Johnathon Vilma...from where? The U!

Without a doubt the biggest loss was LaMont Jordan, who was just a powerful beast. He was a great running back for us, and it's a crucial loss that we had to let him go. But with the bad..you take the good. And the Jets got some great arrivals coming.

They have Derrick Blaylock from K.C.,  Laveranues Coles from Wash.,  Doug Jolley from Oakland, and Derrick Blaylock who had a 4-TD game last year. Jolley is a solid running back,t hough he's not a 15- or 16-game starter, he will be backing up two of the greatest running backs ever. Last year being Priest Holmes, this year the NFL Rushing Champion, Curtis "Chris Berman's Favorite Martin" Martin. Number 87 is coming back to the Jets. Laveranues Coles is coming back to the Jets. Doug Jolley might be the TE the Jets have always wished they had. All the TE who have come to the Jets, have not been as successful as those who wanted.

But the biggest acquisition is Chad Pennington...and his shoulder. His shoulder is finally fine and he's as healthy as ever. Which is what the Jets need. Injured Pennington...no playoffs. Thought when he went down in Buffalo last year and Quincy Carter came in and went 2-1, that ultimately got the Jets a playoff push. But nonetheless.

The Jets right now look very good. There's heavy rumors going on the Jets are close to signing Cornerback Ty Law. The Jets do that, their defense is domination. Jets were 2nd in the league with a +17 turnover ration.

The Jets can easily make the playoffs, I predict they got around 11-5, or 12-4. The Jets will make the playoffs, unlike in 2004 after the talent raid.

Laveranues is back, Pennington's arm is healthy, and Ty Law is coming!
