OKLAHOMA CITY (AP) -- The New Orleans Hornets continued overhauling their roster this offseason by waiving seldom-used guard Arvydas Macijauskas on Wednesday.

Macijauskas played in only 19 games last season and averaged 2.3 points and 7.1 minutes.

"Arvydas' role last season was not what either he or the organization envisioned when we signed him as a free agent, and both parties agreed that this was a mutually beneficial decision," Hornets general manager Jeff Bower said in a statement. "We now have the flexibility to continue to improve our team this offseason and he is free to pursue a playing career in Europe."

A member of the Lithuanian team that upset the United States in the 2004 Olympics, Macijauskas averaged 16 points and shot 42.6 percent from 3-point range for Tau Victoria of the Euroleague in 2004-05.

After drafting center Hilton Armstrong and forward Cedric Simmons, the Hornets waived guard Moochie Norris last week. The team was expected to officially announce the signing of free agents Peja Stojakovic and Bobby Jackson on Wednesday.
