iMPACT! started up with a video highlighting all of the happenings at last Sunday’s pay-per-view, Sacrifice.

Christian Cage made his way down to the ring with his championship belt.  He didn’t enter the ring, but instead entered the crowd area, and he got a standing ovation doing so.  He told the audience that Sacrifice was one of the greatest victories in his wrestling career, besides him winning the championship for the first time.  He entered the ring and changed his attention to Slammiversary, which bears the King of the Mountain match.  During the entire TNA history, nobody has ever retained their title during the King of the Mountain match.  He challenged anybody to join the King of the Mountain match, and Monty Brown stepped onto the entrance ramp.  Rhino, the Truth, Raven, and Abyss were standing in different locations around the arena.  Jeff Jarrett and Scott Steiner came down to the ring and told everybody that he will be in the match.  Sting appeared on the rafters, but Larry Zbyszko appeared on the titantron.  He told the wrestlers that he only needs four wrestlers, while there are eight who want to be in it.  So, there will be four qualifying matches, one every week starting tonight.  To make things fair, nobody will know the name of their opponents until their match.

Up next, the World X Cup finals as Team Canada’s Petey Williams takes on Team USA’s Chris Sabin!

Commercial

Petey Williams came down to the ring with the rest of Team Canada for the first match of the night.  Chris Sabin came down to the ring with the rest of the Team USA.  Before the match got started, the announcer tells us that both teams are barred from ringside.

Singles Match

Petey Williams vs. Chris Sabin

Sabin kickd Williams in the chest, followed by a snapmere takedown.  He hit a standing dropkick to the back of Williams’ head.  Sabin hit an interesting pin, but Williams kicked out.  He hit a dropkick, followed by several right hands at the corner.  Sabin charged at Williams and hit a clothesline, but Williams was able to send Sabin out of the ring.  He vaulted himself out of the ring and hit the hurricanrana onto Sabin.  Back in the ring, Sabin quickly hit a back-slide, but Williams kicked out.  Williams was able to keep the advantage by hitting a standing dropkick before putting Sabin in the Tree of Woe.  He stepped on the groin of Sabin before taking him out of the Tree of Woe and locked in the cross-armed choke.  Williams attempted to send Sabin out of the ring, but he landed on the apron and hit a springboard missile dropkick to Williams.  The camera goes to the back where Kevin Nash took out a security guard.

Commercial

Sabin hung Williams on the Tree of Woe in the corner.  He stepped on the groin, followed by the running dropkick to the head of Williams.  He hit the spinning sitdown powerbomb and the pin, but Williams kicked out.  Sabin went to the apron and hit a springboard, but Williams dodged it and slammed Sabin face-first down to the mat.  He went for the pin, but Sabin kicked out.  He locked in the sharpshooter, but stopped the hold.  He hit a tornado DDT and went to the top turnbuckle.  He went for the diving hurricanrana, but Sabin caught him and hit the Cradle Shock for the victory!

Winner by pinfall: Chris Sabin

He celebrated his victory with the World X Cup trophy, but Kevin Nash attacked him from behind.  He smashed Sabin’s head into the announcer’s table, busting him open.  He tossed Sabin back into the room and hit the jackknife powerbomb.  He grabbed the microphone and told the audience that size matters!  Jay Lethal, Sonjay Dutt, Alex Shelley, and Jerry Lynn came down to the ring to look on the Team USA captain.

Jeremy Borash is backstage with Abyss, Monty Brown, Jeff Jarrett, and Scott Steiner.  All these men could be picked to fight tonight.  Steiner yelled at Borash and told him that he is going to get his own answers, so he left.

Commercial

Scott Steiner came down to the announcer’s table and told them that he wants to face Sting right now.  He grabbed Don West by the collar as Samoa Joe came down to the ring.  Steiner and him had a stare down before Steiner went backstage.  Joe entered the ring to take on Chase Stevens.

Singles Match

Chase Stevens vs. Samoa Joe

Joe quickly hit several knees to the stomach of Stevens before slamming him down to the mat.  Stevens attempted to fight back with several right hands, but when he bounced off the ropes, he ran into a powerslam.  He went for the pin, but Stevens kicked out.  He quickly locked in the Kokita Clutch and Stevens tapped out!

Winner by submission: Samoa Joe

Joe continued to attack Stevens, but then his partner Andy Douglas made the save.  He helped his partner as Shane Douglas watched from the entrance ramp.

Commercial

Jeremy Borash was backstage with Team 3D.  Brother Ray told Borash that extreme times call for extreme measures, seeing that that is the flavor of the month, but he wants the people to not try to revive something that is dead (he is referring to WWE’s new ECW project).  They told Borash that the next time they meet the James Gang in the ring, they want to do it their style.

Abyss made his way down to the ring for the first King of the Mountain qualifying match.  His opponent is Rhino, who stormed the ring to start the match!

King of the Mountain Qualifying Singles Match

Abyss vs. Rhino

Abyss choked Rhino at the corner, followed by several clubbing blows to the back of Rhino.  Rhino retaliated with several right hands, followed by a spear to Abyss at the corner.  He signaled for the Gore, but he ran into a big boot by Abyss.

Commercial

Abyss tossed Rhino into the steel barricade outside the ring.  Rhino started fighting back with some right hands before whipping Abyss into the barricade.  Abyss kept the advantage by bashing his head into the barricade before tossing him back into the ring.  He choked Rhino out of the second rope and he scared the referee out of the ring.  Rhino hit several right hands and bounced off the ropes, but Abyss hit a clothesline.  He placed Rhino at the corner and hit a running body press.  He went for the pin, but Rhino kicked out at two.  He hit some right hands before whipping Rhino viciously into the turnbuckle.  He started twisting on the neck of Rhino, but stopped the maneuver to hit a suplex.  Rhino attempted to come back, and he succeeded with a clothesline.  He hit the shoulder thurst at the corner.  He hit another clothesline before going to the top turnbuckle.  He hit a diving shoulder block, followed by a belly-to-belly suplex.  He signaled for the Gore, but he quickly clotheslined the interfering Bobby Roode.  He whipped Scott D’Amore into the ring, but Abyss hit the Black Hole Slam onto Rhino for the victory!

Winner by pinfall and going onto the King of the Mountain match: Abyss

D’Amore slapped the face of Rhino as iMPACT! went off the air!
