MINNEAPOLIS (AP) -- The Minnesota Timberwolves exercised their contract option on guard Bracey Wright for next season and made a qualifying offer to restricted free-agent forward Justin Reed.
The offer allows the Timberwolves to match any offer to Reed from another team. Acquired in a midseason trade that sent swingman Wally Szczerbiak to Boston, Reed averaged 6.3 points, 2.4 rebounds and 17.7 minutes for the Wolves in 40 games and provided energy and athleticism in the frontcourt.
Wright, a second-round draft pick last year, spent most of his rookie season with Florida in the NBA's developmental league. He played 30 games and ranked fourth in the league in scoring with 21.9 points.
Wright also played seven games with Minnesota and averaged 8.9 points, 2.6 rebounds and 19.3 minutes.
