EAST LANSING, Mich. - Drew Neitzel and Kalin Lucas each scored 18 points and No. 10 Michigan State beat Michigan 77-62 Sunday to match its best 20-game record in school history.

The Spartans (18-2, 6-1 Big Ten) equaled the mark the 2000-01 team had at this point en route to their third straight trip to the Final Four and fourth Big Ten title in a row.

The Wolverines (5-15, 1-7) have their worst 20-game mark since they had the same record in 1981-82.

Michigan didn't have a double-digit scorer until there was 5:16 left and Manny Harris made two free throws and finished with 11 points. Anthony Wright also scored 11 and made a pair of 3-pointers that gave the Wolverines the lead midway through the first half.

Michigan State's Raymar Morgan scored 13 points, helping defeat the Wolverines for the 15th time in 18 meetings.

The Spartans opened the game with an 8-0 run and started the second half with a 10-1 burst, putting them ahead 45-28, and they coasted to the win in their only scheduled game against Michigan.

Michigan State improved to 12-0 at home and its lone losses were against No. 8 UCLA and Iowa.

If the Spartans beat Illinois on Wednesday night at home, they will be 19-2 for the first time in program history.

Michigan State was favored to beat its rival by nearly 20, and it showed why early.

The Spartans scored the first eight points of the game as Michigan missed its first seven shots in 6-plus minutes.

But as the Wolverines often have under first-year coach John Beilein, they put together a rally to turn a lopsided game into a closely contested one.

Michigan went on a 12-0 run to move ahead, and it remained competitive for a stretch before the Spartans closed strong to take a 35-27 lead at halftime.

The game would've been tighter had the Wolverines made more than only one of six free throws in the first half.

Michigan State took control of the game for good soon after halftime, going ahead 45-28, and the Wolverines did not have another rally in them.

Playing off Michigan running back Mike Hart referring to Michigan State as a little brother last fall, the Breslin Center crowd chanted, "Little Sisters! Little Sisters!" toward the end of the game.
