TORONTO - Quarterback Kevin Glenn, who helped lead the Hamilton
Tiger-Cats to their first home playoff date since 2001, was named the
CFL's offensive player for the month of October on Wednesday.
Glenn threw for 1,652 yards and eight touchdowns as Hamilton (9-9)
finished second in the East Division to clinch home-field advantage for
the semifinal round against the B.C. Lions.
Also considered for the award was Calgary running back Joffrey Reynolds and Saskatchewan quarterback Darian Durant.
Hamilton defensive end Justin Hickman captured defensive player
honours. Hickman had 22 tackles, five sacks and one forced
fumble.
Hamilton linebackers Jamall Johnson and Otis Floyd were the finalists.
Jovon Johnson of the Winnipeg Blue Bombers received the
special-teams award. He registered 566 yards on 24 kickoff returns
while also accumulating 331 yards and a touchdown on 34 punt returns.
Montreal kicker Damon Duval was also considered.
Saskatchewan slotback Andy Fantuz was a unanimous selection as top
Canadian. The native of Chatham, Ont., had 38 catches for 488 yards and
two touchdowns as the Roughriders (10-7-1) finished the season atop the
West Division standings for the first time in 33 years.
