Last Week: 3-1
Season to Date: 30-26 (.536)

Although my Stamps turned in the Most Pathetic Performance of Week 15, I correctly picked the winners of the other three games.  But if Calgary loses this week, I won't be happy with another 3-1 showing.

More on that later.  Let's talk about Edmonton.  The Eskishmoes continued their losing ways, dropping a heartbreaker at home to the BC Lions last week.  Edmonton has now lost five of their last six games -- but relief is in sight as they face the Toronto Argonauts, losers of nine of their last 10.  The Argos can't buy a win at home, which explains why they're being moved to Moncton for a game next year, and their owners are looking into selling the team.  The Rogers Centre will continue to be the CFL's home away from home as the Shmoes get off the schnide with a much-needed win.

Speaking of must-wins, the game between Calgary and Saskatchewan on Saturday certainly falls into that category.  The winner takes sole possession of first place in the West with just three games--and one more head-to-head matchup--remaining in the season.  The Stamps have struggled offensively of late, failing to score 30 points in each of their last four outings.  That being said, they've won both of their home games over that stretch.  The defence seems to step up at McMahon, holding their last two opponents to an average of 16 points.  Here's hoping that a game against his former team will fire up Smilin' Hank and break the offence out of a big slump.  I gotta pick Calgary in this one.

Speaking of slumps, the Hamilton Tiger-Cats, former league darlings who got off to a 4-2 start, have fallen back to earth.  The Tabbies have dropped their last three games and six of their last eight to sit at 6-8.  Not a huge shocker for me, as I picked them to win six games this year before the season started.  Two of those losses came against the Montreal Alouettes, who held Hamilton to eight points each time.  Although the Als have nothing left to play for, a win would certainly set the tone as they head into the playoffs, and it's not like they took it easy against Calgary last week.  I wouldn't be surprised to see Montreal finish the season 10-0 at home, Eastern Final included.  Chalk up another win for the bleu, blanc et rouge...

Although the Calgary-Saskatchewan game should be the one to watch this week, the most interesting, intriguing matchup interferes directly with an afternoon slate of NFL games on Sunday.  The 7-7 BC Lions travel to Winnipeg to meet the 6-8 Bombers, with only one loss between them in the past three weeks.  A month ago I would definitely take BC on the road, but that was before the Bombers rolled off three straight wins against Toronto, Edmonton and Hamilton.  Granted, those three teams all have losing records, but BC had also been below .500 all season until they knocked off the Eskies last week.  Granted, it was their first road win since Week 7, and the Bombers ran all over them at BC Place seven days later...

...but it doesn't get any more impressive than Geroy Simon's late-game heroics last week, and if there's one CFL team that's truly better than their record indicates, it's the Lions.  I'm taking BC in the 'Peg as my Upset Pick of the Week.
