Manchester City has reportedly offered a world record €100 million ($132 million) for AC Milan playmaker Kaka. A report on the Web site of Mediaset, the television company controlled by AC Milan owner Silvio Berlusconi, said a City delegation traveled to Italy on Tuesday Jan. 13, 2009 to meet with Milan officials and make the bid. MILAN, Italy - Manchester City offered a record $145 million to buy AC Milan’s Kaka, who says the Italian team team will decide his future.

The 26-year-old Brazilian midfielder was quoted Wednesday on the Web site of Mediaset as saying that he is happy to stay at Milan, his team since 2003. Mediaset is controlled by Milan president Silvio Berlusconi, who also is Italy’s premier.

“I have already refused important offers,” Kaka said. “My objective is to become, in the future, the captain.”

Kaka said in a televised Mediaset interview that he wants “to grow old with Milan.”

“What happens will be decided by Milan,” Kaka said. “If, one day, the club wishes to sell me then it is a different issue altogether.”

Diogo Kotscho, spokesman for the 2007 FIFA player of the year, said City made the 100 million pound offer to the Italian club on Tuesday during a meeting in Milan. Kotscho said Kaka, whose real name is Ricardo Izecson dos Santos Leite, was not represented in the meeting.

Kotscho said in July that Chelsea had offered AC Milan $158 million for Kaka, 15 percent of which would have gone to the player.

The Abu Dhabi United Group, led by Sheikh Mansour Bin Zayed Al Nahyan, bought Man City last September. The club then purchased Brazilian striker Robinho from Real Madrid for $58.5 million.
