(CP) - Cancel the arbitration hearings.

The Edmonton Oilers signed forward Jarret Stoll to a $4.4-million US, two-year contract on Friday while the Buffalo Sabres signed defenceman Henrik Tallinder, avoiding taking their cases before an arbitrator next week.

Stoll had 68 points (22-46) while appearing in all 82 games last season.

"He has emerged into a solid two-way player at an early stage in his career and we believe he will continue his development into a top forward in the NHL," Oilers assistant GM Scott Howson said in a statement.

Tallinder had six goals and 21 points in 82 games for the Sabres. He also had a plus-14 rating during Buffalo's playoff run - tied for the best in the league.

Buffalo had a league-high 10 players file for arbitration.

In other moves on Friday, Sidney Crosby's linemate will be back in Pittsburgh after Colby Armstrong agreed to a new one-year contract while forward Jordin Tootoo signed a deal with the Nashville Predators.

Armstrong, 23, began the season in the AHL last year before being recalled in December. He made up for lost time once he was called up, putting up 40 points (16-24) in 47 games and leading the Penguins with a plus-15 rating.

He'll earn $816,953 US next season. The native of Lloydminster, Sask., was drafted by the Penguins in the first round (21st overall) of the 2001 NHL entry draft.

Tootoo, a native of Rankin Inlet, Nunavut who became the first Inuk to play in the NHL, agreed to a $1.2-million, two-year deal with the Predators. He'll earn $500,000 next season and $700,000 in 2007-08.

He had four goals and 10 points in 34 games with Nashville last season. Tootoo also had 27 points (13-14) in 41 games with AHL Milwaukee.
