TORONTO - Edmonton Eskimos quarterback Ricky Ray was named CFL offensive player of the week on Tuesday.
He had three touchdown passes in a 34-31 victory over the Calgary Stampeders. Ray completed 27 of 41 passes for 448 yards. Montreal Alouettes quarterback Anthony Calvillo was runner-up.
B.C. Lions defensive end Cameron Wake took defensive player of the
week honours. He had eight tackles and three sacks in the Lions’ 26-16
loss to Saskatchewan. Roughriders linebacker Maurice Lloyd was also
considered.
Toronto returner Dominique Dorsey took the special teams nod for his
effort in the Argos’ 32-13 loss to Hamilton. He returned three kicks
for 82 yards, four punts for 68 yards and a missed field goal for 63
yards. Dorsey also added three carries for 29 yards. Edmonton’s Tristan
Jackson was runner-up.
Hamilton running back Jesse Lumsden was a unanimous pick for
Canadian player of the week. He had 189 rushing yards and two
touchdowns on 20 carries. He also had one reception for five yards.
