EDMONTON - A look at the 2008 Edmonton Eskimos:

Coach: Danny Maciocia, fourth season.

Stadium: Commonwealth Stadium, seating capacity 60,081.

Last year: The Eskimos’ up and down season hit the ditch in late September when QB Ricky Ray separated his shoulder. The double-E lost the last five games, finishing 5-12-1 and out of the playoffs.

Notable additions: Rush end Fred Perry, kicker Noel Prefontaine, cornerback Jordan Younger, defensive tackle Dario Romero, centre John Comiskey, wide receiver Brock Ralph, kick returner Tristan Jackson.

Departures: Linebacker A.J. Gass, running backs Tyler Ebell and Ron McClendon, kicker Sean Fleming, kick returner Tony Tompkins, fullback Mike Maurer, wider receiver Trevor Gaylor, defensive end Ron Warner, defensive back William Loftus.

The skinny: A playoff return is in the cards if QB Ray stays healthy, the Eskimos establish a run game and the overhauled defence learns quickly to work together.
