Picks and thoughts for Sacrifice PPV from TNA

It's kind of difficult to pick Sacrifice tonight because a lot of the card is undecided until PPV time. I tried to catch up on TNA by watching last night's replay of Impact, and frankly, I was bored by the end of the first hour, I was sufficiently bored and falling asleep, so I called it quits.

I did however, get one of these wild card teams for Deuces Wild, Sting & James Storm. I like the feud idea, Sting vs. Storm, but the duo as a tag team, I'm not sure. As long as Sting doesn't try to change Storm they way he did with Abyss, I'll be fine. As far as the other six members of this "Egotistical Eight", (nice pun with the NCAA tournament), I'm wondering how Jeff Jarrett was able to be turned around so quickly. Why do you wonder what I mean? Simple.

I read a report a while back that Angle approached Jarrett about wrestling Awesome Kong, and Jarrett nixed that idea, saying they didn't want to book Kong in that fashion. Well, obviously, that idea is no longer the case, as Kong is in this tournament, which is, if for no other reason, unique, to say the least. We all know Kong can handle herself with the boys as well as anyone, but what this does to the women's division remains to be seen.

I also got the general gist of TerrorDome. I don't like the fact that the X Division title isn't on the line here. It's too big a concept match to just go for the #1 contendership. With that being said, it's also a bit of a big risk if the dome is truly 30 feet in height, and the winner has to climb to the top of this structure and go out the hole at the top of the dome. I guess the best way to describe the TerrorDome is the Elimination Chamber meets Six Sides of Steel meets Ultimate X meets Elevation X. When you combine all of that together, you'll either get one of two things. A terrific contest, or an absolute cluster bomb. If it's based on what's happened in the past with Elevation X, I'm not too confident.

By the way, as I checked the results of Impact from thursday night to check what was the other team drawn, Brother Ray can't promo to save his life. His promo with Cage & Rhino was so forced and seemed so un-geniune, if that's such a word. 15 + 5, 14 + 6, 16 + 5, let me give you some advice, big man, 21 isn't in your future. Bet on it.

So, four of the eight for Deuces Wild are done. Matt Morgan & Kip James and Sting & James Storm. Which means Roode, Booker, BG James, and Awesome Kong are left to be teamed up later tonight. Can you see Roode & Booker be one team to further make Booker's life miserable by being set up with a man who has nothing but endless feuds with people who haven't been able to crack the glass ceiling? (Robert Roode). I can see that. Which means BG would go with Kong. I could see that working, because BG's no dope. He'd let the monstress (is that a word), take over and rock the tournament for the length of time they manage to make it in there. So, that's my picks for the Deuces Wild tournament teams.

Booker T & Robert Roode
BG James & Awesome Kong

Along with Cage & Rhino, LAX, Team 3D, AJ & so called Super Eric, (what happened to Tomko?), and the two drawn teams, Sting & Storm, and Morgan & Kip.

I know Tomko is in hot water because he did that show in Osaka before Lockdown. I just think its foolish to hurt your product to put a man like Styles in with a gimmick wrestler. Styles and Eric Young, that I would pay to see. Styles & Super Eric doesn't thrill me.

Ok, since I'm TECHNICALLY supposed to be doing picks, let me just go out and say this for the Deuces Wild Tournament.

WINNERS: The Latin American XChange

They're too good not to be champions again. I think the push is coming, with them taking out Cage & Rhino and 3D last week. It's well overdue. Too far overdue, but that's just one man's opinion.

Let's move on.

Knockout's Makeover Battle Royale
Winner gets a TNA Knockout's title match, runner up gets her head shaved
Gail Kim has immunity from having her head shaved.

Gail Kim vs. Velvet Sky vs. Angelina Love vs. ODB vs. Christy Hemme
vs. Roxxi Laveaux vs. Rhaka Khan vs. Salinas vs. Traci Brooks vs. Jacqueline

Another gimmick. TNA is making me hate gimmick matches. I used to be such a supporter of gimmick matches, but these things are over doing it, in a big way. Here, this one screams at me that one woman is going to go down and get her head shaved. I read a report where TNA was furious with Rhaka Khan for skimping out on signing a bunch of cards for merchandise to be sold. Jarrett pulled her card from the series. I smell a rat here with this match, and I could see her taking the fall for this match and getting her head shaved. I am not too crazy about the idea about a woman getting her head shaved, anyway, but this is the one idea that I think has merit to possibly go down. As for a winner, It's close, but I have to think that TNA is going to give Gail Kim another shot at regaining the Women's title from the woman she lost it to.

WINNER: Gail Kim

TerrorDome Match for the #1 contendership for the X Division Title
Curry Man vs. Kaz vs. Jay Lethal vs Alex Shelley vs. Chris Sabin
vs. Jimmy Rave vs. Johnny Devine vs. Sonjay Dutt vs. Shark Boy vs. Consequences Creed

First, I have to make some inital comments. I finally got the chance to see Curry Man, and Shark Boy as Stone Cold. #1. IN MY OPINION ONLY, Curry Man is dumb. It's a dumb gimmick. It works in a comedy match, but as a legit roster member, it's dumb. Christopher Daniels is a world class wrestler, and he's been forced in to doing this dumb ass gimmick for TNA, and its digusting. I know people are going to disagree with me, and so be it. I prefer the Fallen Angel, not this hot and spicy reject from Tokyo. Second. Shark Boy. "Gimmie a Shell Yeah!??" Excuse me while I vomit. Shark Boy was doing just fine being the guy from the deep blue sea. He was getting PPV matches, although losing them most of the time, and still employed on the roster. Now, he's just impersonating a man who cannot be impersonated, especially by a guy with a fin on the top of his head.

Now, with that being said, on to the match.

I HOPE AND PRAY that this match doesn't lead to the potential dissolving of the Machine Guns in TNA. I just heard they're due to come to NYC in August for ROH, and I wanna see that, so I hope that they don't tease a break up of those two in this match. With that being said, those two should have a significant advantage from teaming up on the other eight combatants in this match. I have one question, though, Is Sonjay Dutt ever going to see the X Division gold, or is he going to be, nevermind, I won't go negative there. As far as who can do this match, as far as who I think is the most likely that TNA wants to see go on down the line and face Maple Leaf Muscle Petey Williams for the X title, I can think of only one man.

WINNER: Jay Lethal

He has shown too much heart and soul and determination, as evident from my own eyes at the hardcore street fight back at Against All Odds to be taken out of the X title picture because of the briefcase thing that Petey did to win the belt. A rematch has to happen. Its a convuluted way to get to one, but it's the only thought I can see.

TNA World Heavyweight Championship
Samoa Joe vs. Scott Steiner vs. Kurt Angle

This match has some questions marks. Angle's health primarily. I doubted Angle would win the belt back here anyway, but now with the hurt neck, I am wondering if Angle is even going to be able to be medically cleared to wrestle. The next question is, what will Frank Trigg and Rick Steiner do in their roles in this match? It's obvious they're going to be involved in some way, shape, or form, otherwise TNA wouldn't promote them as being involved in support of Scott Steiner and at the commentary table.

Personally, I suspect Angle is going to finally get it through his head to get his neck fixed, and work his way out of the storyline. I am praying Jeff Jarrett forces this on to Angle to avoid another tragedy. With that being said, I expect Samoa Joe to retain, but the feud with Scott Steiner is not done by a long shot. I think they're going forward into a new program for the title for the forseeable future.

WINNER: Samoa Joe

I got business to do, so let me get out of here.

Thanks for reading.
