Hello everyone and welcome to another edition of the "WFS". Hope you all are having a great fall so far. Survived the storm Ernesto here. Just a bunch of yard work to do with broken tree limbs, branches, and such. Been checking on my grandmother who has been back and forth to the hospital along with my mother who will be having gall bladder surgery next Wednesday. So any thoughts and prayers for them would be greatly appreciated. Now lets get started.

I was shocked like a lot of people about Kurt Angle's departure from the WWE. But I am glad he is doing what he can to straighten out his personal life so he can be come back full strength. To say I have great respect for this awesome athlete is an understatement. Through several injuries through the years, this man has become an Olympic gold medalist, Wrestling Hall of Famer, numerous time WWE champion, etc. Kurt Angle is one of the greatest athletes of modern time. My thoughts and prayers go out to him and his family. Hope to see Kurt back in the ring soon.
Another departure from the WWE is the great Trish Stratus. This tremendous female athlete help redefine the "diva" wrestling persona in the WWE and has helped paved the way for many future female wrestlers by her example. Her hard work and dedication helped made her one of the greatest female competitors ever. She will be greatly missed.
One of my graduates from my wrestling school, V.A. Hampton, will be moving down to the Florida area soon. V.A. is a gifted athlete that is a definite future star to look out for. You can check out V.A. 's website at
Would also like to thank the good folks at NWA Mountain State for once again having me for the TV taping event in White Sulphur Springs, West Virginia last week. The last time I was in that area was years ago during my Smoky Mountain Wrestling tenure. Had some great matches with Buzzsaw and the NWA-MSW champion War Machine. Also was good seeing veterans like Ricky Morton and "Nature Boy" Buddy Landell. Hope to return to NWA-MSW again soon. You can check out their website at
Also would like to thank Paul Harley, the SCW/Ohio family, and The Game Crazy store for having me at their events in Zanesville, Ohio this past Saturday. Had a great time with the Ohio fans their as well as having a great match with Eddie Insane along with Selena. Was a great time cracking "Spaceball" movie jokes with the guys and gals in the back (laughs). Hope to return there again soon.
While I was in Ohio, I got a chance to see once again some of my old wrestling buddies Paul and D.S.. Was great talking to them once again and recollecting old memories of the Kentucky/Tennessee territories. One story we were discussing was when at one time Bill Dundee had to wrestle a guerrilla. That was quite a tale.
Tales from the Lair
"About four years ago or so I was at an autograph signing with WWE Hall of Famer "Mr. USA" Tony Atlas along with "Enos" of the Dukes of Hazzard TV series at Broadway on the Beach in Myrtle Beach, South Carolina. Everything was going smoothly when I heard people running outside. I looked out the window to see a tornado touching down in the ocean appearing to be heading this way from a distance. Everyone was heading out the door, except Enos who was staring outside the window. I stopped myself and came by to join Enos who was watching the tornado from a distance. "That dang tornado ain't going nowhere" says Enos as it appeared to be weakening and eventually went away. Later that evening I bumped into Ricky Morton who was nearby and
asked him if he has seen it. "Seen it? It was right next door to my motel!"

Michael from West Virginia:
"Good seeing you wrestle on TV for NWA Mountain State. When will you be wrestling up here again?"
Stro: Be looking out for me on upcoming NWA Mountain State TV shows. Also will be in Ravenswood, West Virginia at Octoberfest Sunday October 8th for Mason Dixon Wrestling
Samantha from North Dakota
"Stro, who would you think would win in an UFC bout between Chuck Liddell and Rich Franklin?"
Stro: "This bout would be a tough one to call as both are excellent strikers. Franklin is very well rounded with striking and grappling. But that is if he can get by Liddell's explosive striking like he displayed in his recent pay per view win over Renato Sobral."
Hiro from Japan
"Enjoy reading your columns Stro. You are a good person and a great wrestler. Best of luck."
