Brandon's Bashings: Stop acting so serious!

Well, first off, let me welcome everyone to the first edition of Brandon's Bashings. I, of course, am your host for the evening. I want to start off tonight by talking about a couple of different issues with the current product known as professional wrestling. So, here it goes.

First off, the corporate world of the WWE: I have a message for the corporate folk up there in World Wrestling Entertainment: Stop acting so serious!

In other words, lighten up a bit. For example, this whole thing with the Voodoo Kin Mafia issuing a challenge to the Hardy Boys for the ECW Pay Per View.  I, for one, speak for everyone I think when I say this, but that would be an awesome way to get the brand TNA, as well as both brands across to the mainstream media as well as to both fan bases. Know what I mean? Of all people, Jim Ross, the master of the famous BBQ sauce that completely bombed at the Wal-Mart box office, continues to criticize TNA for all that they do, saying that "Vince could care less about the competition and challenges issued by the Voodoo Kin Mafia." Well, Vince McMahon is an idiot if he doesn't see the cash signs right before his very eyes. But you know something, TNA has a lot going for them right now and they should step up to the plate and go after the top spot in the ratings war. The hell with Vince McMahon. I am very much for this whole war on WWE thing that the VKM has going right now. Keep it up, TNA!!

Secondly...Why did they decide to bring Degeneration X back to the top of the charts? It's bad enough that the creative teams are running out of ideas, but come on...DX? It's not even the same logo as it was back years ago. It's this cartoon image of two people telling everyone to "Suck It". It just makes me sick to my stomach seeing the "new" DX coming out there each and every week telling everyone "Are You Ready" without seeing the likes of Chyna, X-Pac, Road Dogg, and Billy Gunn. Sure it was cool seeing it the first few weeks, but after that, it's getting to be quite old, about as old as Arn Anderson's gym socks (Still a HUGE mark for the Four Horsemen.) It just seems like the WWE keeps recreating angles over and over again and expect the fans to keep buying it. Eventually, things will get old and stale and get put up on the shelf like Ric Flair should have been years ago. I give Flair credit where it is due, but it's about time for him to retire as well. Anywho...back to the minor leagues for Degeneration X. The only thing the fans are ready for...is something new and fresh, instead of washed up angles that were almost as ancient as the birth of the caveman. Food for thought, ladies and gentlemen.

Finally, my last word on the subject of Extreme Championship Wrestling. The fans were right a long time ago. The term "Extreme Crappy Wrestling" is EXACTLY what it has turned about to be. Don't get me wrong. I am a huge fan of the old ECW, but this is NOT, I repeat, not the old ECW that fans grew to love and hate at times. I mean, it was hard-hitting, beer-swilling, people flying out of balconies onto flaming tables in jam-packed arenas week-in and week-out. And now, pure and complete garbage. Big Show is the ECW Champion...and there are still WWE influences within ECW, so I really do not think Paul E. has full creative control, and never will as long as Vince is in charge. The only reason Vince McMahon bought out WCW and ECW was to make himself look good. If Vince really wanted to make ECW a success, he would not have made Big Show the ECW champion. And now with Lashley in the mix, it makes even more perfect sense that the McMahons are complete idiots and do not know how to make things go "to the extreme". I, personally, would love to see Tazz get back in the ring and tear everyone apart. "Beat Me If You Can, Survive If I Let You!!" And doesn't WWE own the rights to the ECW theme music? I would personally love to see RVD come out to Pantera again, but alas, we have to listen to this lame "One Of A Kind" crap. It's okay I guess, if you're a typical WWE fan who will cheer for anything that moves. As you can tell, I am not much of WWE fan, but I am a hardcore wrestling fan, and I am also a big fan of the product that is TNA, Total Nonstop Action and they live up to their word of Nonstop Action. I am waiting for another Monday Night War and it's coming soon to a cable or satellite provider near you!!

Guys, it's been fun, you've been a great audience, and I hope that you will enjoy my weekly Bashings, it's been fun to write this column. As always, have a safe week, and come back now, ya hear? Happy Holidays Everybody from the MOP Squad Sports!
