CINCINNATI -- Eric Hicks had 23 points and 11 rebounds to help Cincinnati beat Minnesota 76-62 in the second round of the National Invitation Tournament on Tuesday night.

The Bearcats (21-12) will host South Carolina on Thursday with the winner advancing to the NIT semifinals at Madison Square Garden in New York.

Cincinnati's James White had 17 points and Cedric McGowan added 11 against the Golden Gophers.

Hicks' four blocks gave him 110 for the season, breaking Kenyon Martin's single-season record of 107 in 1999-2000 and moving him into second place on the school's all-time list with 253, behind Martin's 292.

Vincent Grier scored 18 and Adam Boone added 12 points for the Minnesota (16-15).

Senior Chadd Moore, who sat out the Bearcats' first-round win over Charlotte with a sore back, hit a 3-pointer to finish off a 14-0 run that gave Cincinnati a 19-11 lead.

Hicks, who scored 23 points and had a career-high 18 rebounds in the first round, made a 3-pointer to give Cincinnati its largest lead, 39-27, with less than 2 minutes left in the first half.

Maurice Hargrow's jumper cut Minnesota's deficit to 43-38 early in the second half but the Gophers couldn't get any closer.

White's acrobatic dunk made it 61-46 with 7:58 remaining.
