David Ortiz is the hero of the Boston Red Sox for two straight nights as he helped in the 5-4 victory over the New York Yankees.

Divid Ortiz celebrates his game winning single that forces a game 6

Ortiz came up in the 14th and faced Yankee reliever Esteban Loaiza. He dropped a soft single into the outfield that scored Johnny Damon to win the game.

"Hopefully he'll have six more great games," said Damon, "and they'll make a monument of him."

“The Yankees really have to think about whos their Papi,” said Red Sox winner Pedro Martinez.

This brings the Yanks lead to 3-2 in the series. No team in Major League Baseball has ever come back from a 3-0 deficit in a best of 7 series. Only the 1999 New York Mets and the 1998 Atlanta Braves have forced a game 6 after falling behind 3-0.

The Fenway Crowd of 35,120 saw the longest game in playoff history which was a 5 hour 45 minute game filled with drama from the get go with both teams combining for 471 total pitches.

The Red Sox will send ace Curt Shilling to the mound for game six despite nagging ankle injuries. He will go against Jon Lieber who was almost perfect with one on three hits in game two. Game 6 can Tuesday on FOX at 8PM EST.
