BOSTON (AP) -- The Boston Bruins hired longtime Buffalo Sabres executive Jim Benning as director of player personnel Tuesday.
The team also said that 15-year NHL veteran Doug Houda was selected as assistant coach, and Wayne Smith was hired as a regional scout.
Benning spent the last nine years as the Sabres' director of amateur scouting. Benning played nine seasons in the NHL, for Toronto and Vancouver. Houda has been an assistant coach the last three seasons with the Rochester Americans, Buffalo's American Hockey League affiliate.
