ANAHEIM, Calif. -- The Stanley Cup champion Anaheim Ducks have signed Chris Kunitz to a four-year, $14.9 million contract extension, putting the left wing under contract through the 2011-12 season.

Kunitz had 25 goals and 35 assists in 81 games last season and one goal and five assists in 13 playoff games, missing eight because of injuries.

"Chris has been a very important multi-dimensional player for us the last two seasons, providing skill, physical play and leadership," Ducks general manager Brian Burke said in a statement on Monday. "We are very pleased to have him signed prior to his eligibility as an unrestricted free agent next summer."

Kunitz, who turns 28 next month, will earn $1.15 million this season to complete his previous contract. He will be paid $3.5 million in the 2008-09 season; $3.6 million in the 2009-10 season; $3.8 million in the 2010-11 season and $4 million in the 2011-12 season.
